🗝️ PANIC!

🕹️ About the Game

Originally created in 1986 by British programmer Roland A. Waddilove for the prestigious Computing With The Amstrad magazine, this title was later translated and published in Spain by Amstrad Semanal.

This updated release modernizes gameplay and interface navigation for modern retro setups:

  • 💾 Extended Hardware Support:

    • Amstrad GX4000 console (via PicoGX or C4CPC).
    • Amstrad CPC and CPC+ systems (via M4 card).

📖 Story & Gameplay Notes

Tom Arto was living a peaceful life in his Rhode Island mansion until three masked men kidnapped him. Taken to a damp, dark underground cavern outside the city, he is being held hostage while his captors demand a ransom.

Although warned that the cave is filled with nightmare dangers designed to prevent any escape attempt, Tom is determined to break free. Will you help him find his way out?

💡 Survival Tips:

  • 🔑 Key Strategy: Pay close attention to how keys are distributed throughout the cave corridors. Collect them in a logical order so you don't accidentally leave one trapped or out of reach.
  • Quick Reflexes: Rely on sharp reflexes and keen imagination to overcome the unexpected hazards waiting in the dark.

Great game, thanks.

Nice game!

Thank you for the video!

Nice game. I saw a small problem, playing in WinAPE, just in game, if I press F1/F2 several times quickly, the game restarts. Is it a bug or a feature?

This is a feature I added so that if you have infinite lives and get stuck, you can perform a "Call 0" by pressing F1+F2 simultaneously to restart the CPR ROM on the GX4000/Pico GX. While the game can be played on a CPC with an M4, it's designed for the GX4000. If this option proves inconvenient, I can disable or modify it in future updates.

No, that's fine with me, no problem. Just out of curiosity.

Is there only 1 level / screen in the game? I collected all keys but it took me back to "screen 0" again? Thank you!

Fixed! A small bug from the original game still prevents proper screen progression after collecting all the keys. I played the new CPR and was able to advance to screen 2, though not without some difficulty because I'm not a good player. Thanks a lot for the heads-up.

Thank you! I tried the new version you uploaded but it's still not progressing to the next level and looping back to "Screen 0"? Do you have to collect the keys in a certain order?

Actually my version doesn't have a score displayed (I re-downloaded the one you uploaded a few hours ago) and is different to the one being played in Sabreman's video in the comments here?

It's weird... I played this morning and got through the level by collecting all the keys, in no particular order (I used infinite lives). Shouldn't it be Screen 0? You start with Screen 1. Are you using an emulator, and which one? Are you using infinite lives? It's weird, really weird.

WinApe emulator. OK I've done further testing... it doesn't work correctly in WinApe, but using Ace-DL it works fine.

If you're using WinApe, the problem might be due to using the 464+ ROM, because the game is Basic 1.1 (the one used by GX4000) and you should use the 6128+ ROM. This is just to rule out errors.

Excelente versión !!!!
